BACK TO SCHOOL MESSAGE
Dear Friends and Neighbors, As my children and so many others return to school this week, I reflect upon the teachers that made an impact in my life and appreciate the significant roles that all teachers play in the lives of our children. As the number of college students choosing a career path in education has steadily decreased over the years, it will be harder to find these teachers. That is one reason why, in this legislative session, the General Assembly has taken a long-awaited interest in our teachers and schools. As a product of Richland District 2 schools, I understand that public education and quality educators are a worthwhile and vital investment for our state. I believe that investing and having access to quality education is key to preparing our children for the jobs of the future. I will always be a strong advocate and voice for our schools and its teachers to ensure that we recruit and retain the best ones. Thank you to our teachers, administrators, and entire school staffs for making a difference in the lives of our children, especially as we begin this new school year. Best wishes,
