Governor Haley issues State of Emergency
Dear Friends and Neighbors, Governor Nikki Haley has issued a State of Emergency for South Carolina ahead of Hurricane Matthew. Hurricane Matthew is currently a Category 4 and the Governor has been informed that it will be between a Category 2 and 3 when it does hit SC, with winds expected to reach as high as 100 miles per hour. The Governor has directed that all schools and government agencies across the coast be closed tomorrow, along with schools and agencies in the Midlands. Richland School District 1 and 2 will be closed starting tomorrow through Friday in preparation of the storm. Please remember to keep enough supplies in your home to meet the needs of your family for at least 3 days. You may visit scemd.org for more emergency preparedness information. Be safe! Best,
