My two daughters who are now entering high school and middle school, respectively, recently returned back to school. During this time, it always reinforces for me the vital and important role that teachers play in the everyday lives of our children. I cannot express more sincerely how appreciated our teachers, administrators, and entire school staffs are for making a difference in the lives of our children, especially as we begin this new school year.
As a product of the public schools in Richland School District 2, I understand that public education is a worthwhile and necessary investment for our state. I believe that investing and having access to quality education is key to preparing our children for the jobs of the future. I will always be a strong advocate and voice for our schools and its teachers to ensure that we recruit and retain the best.
Once we re-convene to address the Governor's vetoes, I will send another legislative wrap up to discuss the final budget. I have been told that this should be sometime in October. In the meantime, if you should have any questions or concerns, please let me know.
Thank you for giving me the honor and privilege of serving you and our community at the State House.
